Services
The Heidelberg KardioExcellence (HKE) practice clinic offers its patients services in the fields of internal medicine, invasive and non-invasive cardiology, and sleep medicine. Invasive cardiology involves medical procedures (often minimally invasive) in which instruments are inserted into the body to diagnose or treat cardiovascular diseases.
In contrast, non-invasive cardiology does not require any injuries. Examples include ultrasound, ECG, long-term blood pressure measurement, and service checks in rhythmology.

Sleep laboratory
The sleep laboratory at Heidelberg KardioExcellence Practice Clinic (HKE) is used to examine sleep disorders (difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep, as well as insomnia) and sleep-related breathing disorders, such as sleep apnea or hypopnea, which often occur in connection with cardiac conditions. Therefore, examination in the sleep laboratory is often part of cardiological diagnosis and treatment, especially when sleep apnea or other respiratory disorders during sleep are suspected.
With Dr. Natour as a sleep medicine specialist and his team, the HKE also offers examinations of sleep disorders at home, at the patient's residence. The mobile sleep laboratory (polygraphy), a portable device, allows important sleep parameters such as respiration, heart rate, and oxygen saturation to be recorded. In addition, an innovation in the sleep laboratory also offers home video monitoring with monitoring of brain activity (EEG) and recording of nerve and muscle activity (polysomnography).

Dr. Mohammed Natour, founder and medical director of the Heidelberg KardioExcellence Practice Clinic (HKE), is the initiator of Heidelberg Heart Day. This is a continuing education event that first brought international cardiologists and scientists to the university city of Heidelberg in 2010. „ExcellenceFocus focused on the exchange of ideas between top-class cardiologists and scientists on the topics of cardiological prevention, multimodal diagnostics, and therapy. At the Heart Day events, cardiology puts itself at the service of interdisciplinary medicine. The connections between cardiology and the medical fields presented are illustrated and explained from the perspective of evidence-based medicine. The ten events that took place in subsequent years were very well received," says Dr. M. Natour.
Heidelberg Heart Day is recognized by the Baden-Württemberg Medical Association for DMPCHD, DMP-Diabetes, and DMP-COPD and based on experience, is awarded 8 to 11 CME points. The next Heidelberg Heart Day will take place in 2026.
